REGINA CAVANAGH, LMFT

Regina Cavanagh is a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist who has worked in various settings for the past 15 years. Regina works with issues of adjustment, depression, anxiety, grief and loss, stress and transition, relationship issues and mindfulness based stress reduction. In addition to working with families and adults of all ages she has experience with chronically mentally ill population, including psychotic and mood disorders.  She has also worked with cancer patients and their families, as well as with issues relating to chronic illness in general.

Regina works collaboratively with people to find meaning in their existence, which leads to increased awareness and opens the mind to wonder and compassion. Her style is warm and supportive and individualized to each client. She believes that the relationship that develops with clients is a critical factor in helping people change and feel better about their relationship with themselves and with others. Therapy is a wonderful opportunity to explore habituated patterns as well as the stories we tell ourselves. We all have a choice in how we make meaning in our lives, and she believes that with a compassionate exploration of one’s inner life comes the ability to find more wonder and joy and connection in our daily life.

After earning her BA in English Literature, from Ithaca College, in New York, Regina traveled the world, living in Japan, Bali, Africa and Europe, while working on creative writing projects and teaching English. Her love of people and their stories led her to Los Angeles to earn a MA in Clinical Psychology from Antioch University.
