Initial Consultation

Do I need therapy? What kind? Should I come alone or with my partner? Is my child the problem or is it us? I’ve been told I drink too much; do I have a problem? Life is not going well, is it just a phase or do I need help?

We oftentimes know intuitively that we need help but are reluctant to admit it to ourselves or to others. You may want to start with an Evaluation with an experienced therapist that will help you sort out where you are and what yo are going through, as well as possible ways to address your concerns and hopes.

How does it work?

Schedule an appointment with one of our providers. You may want to see our Providers page to view some of the common issues that people call about and therapists that address them.

What does an Initial Consultation consist of?

You will meet with a provider for a regular session with the specific aim of knowing more about the issue that concerns you. Towards the end of the session your therapist will be able to make suggestions as to what may be the best course of action given your situation.

Can it be billed to my insurance?

Yes. Insurance plans typically cover evaluation sessions. Since our providers belong to most insurance panels, it is likely that the initial consultation will be covered by your plan. However, please make sure that the therapist you choose is listed in your plan’s website. If you do not have coverage and would still like to have an initial consultation, the cost is $125.

If I decide to continue in therapy, will I be able to continue with the therapist that evaluated me?

Yes, provided that you can coordinate schedules.
