Gloria Lakin is a dedicated clinical therapist who blends academic rigor with over two decades of unique life experience in the entertainment industry. Born and raised in Los Angeles, she is a proud UCLA and Pepperdine University alumna, currently recognized as an inaugural member of the UCLA Bruin Business 100 which recognizes businesses making a significant impact in their communities. 

Therapeutic Approach

 

With a clinical background rooted in academic excellence and diverse life experiences, Gloria believes that even in the darkest moments of uncertainty whether driven by financial burdens, violence, or personal loss, therapy can serve as a "beacon of light" to help individuals rediscover their purpose and happiness.

Her practice is defined by the Mind and Body Connection-a scientifically supported bidirectional relationship impacting mental thoughts, emotions & physical health which promotes self-awareness, emotional regulation & resilience.​

• Walk and Talk Therapy: In addition to Telehealth, Gloria offers outdoor sessions. She utilizes the scientifically proven benefits for the brain of fresh air and walking to help patients process grief and anxiety while fostering a sense of "aliveness".

• Diverse Populations: She works with populations ranging from ages 18 to 90 across various socio-economic and cultural backgrounds.

• Advocacy & Public Service: She holds a 40-hour Certificate in Domestic Violence Advocate Training and has worked directly with the Victims of Crime for the Los Angeles District Attorney’s office; volunteered for suicide prevention hotlines. Gloria is a staunch supporter of the "MeToo" movement and provides a safe space for survivors of harassment and violence.

Gloria’s 20+ years in the Screen Actors Guild have given her deep insight into the high-pressure stressors of performance anxiety and depression. Her clinical specialties include:

• Addiction & Trauma: Gambling addiction (including online), PTSD, and Domestic Violence recovery.

• Grief & Loss: Comprehensive support for the loss of loved ones, relationships/divorce, pets, or the loss of a home (specifically fire loss).

• Clinical Modalities: Integrative therapy depending on symptoms and needs creating a personalized treatment plan; Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Psychodynamic Therapy; Family Therapy; Stress Management; Anger management; Mindfulness.

• Life Transitions: Career transitions, ageism, pre-marital/couples counseling, and Cognitive decline challenges.

• Language: Services are available in Spanish.
